Found this beauty today about five blocks from my house. Unfortunately Paul, the owner, lives hours away and was just up helping friends today. This is his daily driver that he has had for over 30 years. He said he lived in Fort Hood Texas and sold his 67 Volkswagen bug because he needed to move north and his stuff wouldn't fit in the bug. A few days later the lot that bought his bug got this van in stock.
The front frame was rusted, and damaged so he decided to cut the frame and install a Bronco front-end. But it really raised the front of the van high in the air, and it kept getting him pulled over. So then he pulled it and installed the front frame of a 93 Silverado. This gave him A frame suspension, the 350 that was in the pickup, power steering, four wheel drive, and power brakes. The brake booster is mounted 90 degrees off. He also added air conditioning too. He originally had a three speed transmission, but now has a 700r4 in it.
You can also see in the third picture down that he widened the doghouse all the way out to the sides of the van. The doghouse lid sticks up over the flat surface from left to right. He did this with the idea of adding turbo, but later decided he was happy without the turbo.
Paul doesn't own a computer, or a cell phone, and isn't interested in having one. So unless someone else sees him and posts pictures, you wont be seeing him or his van online. Actually he is thinking about shutting off his house phone too because people keep calling to sell stuff.
I tried to pop some pictures of the underneath, couldn't really get in there.

I saw this poor Dodge while up in North West Minnesota last week. Owner wasn't home so I didn't get the details.

[quote="sandyvan"]Owner not present, unless asleep in the back...
We are "all asleep in the back" at least usually anyway, aren't we?
Maybe just metaphorically.
