Where do you guys find these for a '64?
I ordered one but they are back ordered and it could be awhile.
I'd hate to have to fab in a later model switch but, I'm wondering if that might not be the best bet if these are hard to find.
    Thanks,

You can get them on eBay

vintageoldtimegarage on eBay is where I got the last one I bought for my 69, but I put a replacement on my 66 a few years ago too. Simple and easy.

A buddy of mine is looking for those parts, too. Took a quick search and didn't find it either. We'll just finish the installation of the new rack and access tonneau cover on the current truck project and I'll take some time searching for the parts at Ebay. Would appreciate any link.

Thanks buddy. I went ahead and got that one. The one I ordered from Standard Motor Products is still back ordered, so I cancelled it.
Thanks again for the heads up!!!

I bought mine at NAPA; there are (3) different mounting configurations for the same switch, hence (3)different part numbers. The part number with the correct mounting config we need has been discontinued, so buy one of the other two and fab an adapter bracket. That's what I had to do.

Hello all, upon further research and review I found that Clark's Corvair Parts has the brake light switch for our vans. Their part # C1616, for a Corvair Van, which is a direct fit;$45 pricey but just bolt it on. I got mine today.

It appears that the Corvair parts place still has this switch listed as of today.... I bought one of the variations that's made for a 57 Suburban..... Got it From RockAuto for just under $15 plus shipping and made an adapter mounting plate to position it exactly like the original (pictures soon).... My old switch was shot internally, but was useful as a pattern...... I wanted the switch on at 1/4" of pedal travel, so I had to "adjust" my new plate by bending it upwards a bit...

This one works as well, however you will need to modify or make a mounting bracket for correct placement.

I think the arms are the same length..... The bracket on the original where the bolts attach are behind the switch, holding it out farther.... Also, the shorter bracket is faced the other way....If you have the original, it's easy to measure the differences and make an adapter plate... If you look at the two in the last two posts, you'll see the differences...

This is the correct switch for a 69 van..... the one in the previous post is the replacement I made an adapter for... I see the AC Delco number is D860A...

Here's the little adaptor plate I made about 6 years ago to get the correct placement for the one I used...
No issues at all since installed...

My uncle got this 69 project it needs a few brake parts. The previous owner's son messed with it. We're gonna take a closer look after we finished installing the brake kit and nitto ridge grappler tires on the truck and clear the garage. We'll check vintageoldtimegarage soon.
