Tail gate protector

Has anyone installed a tailgate protector on their Econoline pickup? Here's a universal fit one:

I read bad reviews about another (too soft, wouldn't stick). I have a couple of dents at the top of my tailgate. I can try doing body work on it, but I'm thinking a tailgate protector would be useful, and "fix" the dents more easily.

I just peeled an old one, along with some rubber pieces from the top of the bed rails.

There must have been 20 screws in the tailgate that will now need to be welded up.

I think it looks better without but to each their own!
