I forgot to measure my three-speed and bellhousing before donating to the high school auto shop....I need to know the overall length (including the bellhousing) to properly plan my engine/trans swap..... Leaning toward 454/4L80, but wanna make sure I can make enough space....

http://www.monstertransmission.com/Automatic-Transmission-Dimensions-Measurements_b_84.html#.Wineu7pFxpM I had a 700r4 in my '64 and had no issues. my engine was lowered already but have heard it will hit the floor at rear of doghouse, second gen has slightly more room and isn't an issue. you will need second gen box, fabricate your first gen for clearance or lower everything 1/2"

I put a 200-4r in my 68 G10 and had to lower the engine because the bell housing hit the back of the doghouse too. But the cool thing was that the 200-4r is the same length of the Powerglide that came from the factory, same yoke too.
You can see the aluminum lowering block I used in the background of this photo.
