For some time now I have struggled through comparisons of 1961 and 1967 wiring diagrams (and hands on under the dash) in an attempt to upgrade from my turn signal assembly to the Gen II w/ hazard (8 wire) one. Sure wish Ford would have stuck with the same wire colors when it transitioned……….
When I removed the old signal assembly I cut the harness midway in hopes that I could just match up wires from the new assembly to the old ones that are already attached where they should belong. It is not that simple…….
Old Skool provided me with the following :
CONVERSION WIRING FOR GENII TURN SIGNAL ASSMEBLY USING TRAILER LIGHT DUAL PRONG PIGTAILS
BLUE CONNECTION
Connect green/white stripe wire to male end of plug
Connect white/blue stripe wire to female end of plug
Put large diameter BLUE shrink tube over plug end to mark
RED CONNECTION
Connect solid blue wire to male end of plug
Connect red/black stripe to female end of plug
Put large diameter RED shrink tube over plug end to mark
BLACK CONNECTION
Connect yellow/brown stripe wire to male end of plug
Connect solid green wire to female end of plug
Leave BLACK color on end plug
Dark blue/yellow stripe is single male plug end for horn
White/red stripe wire goes to one side of the 2nd flasher, fuse and connect power source to flashers 2nd electrical prong
There are many different options in ”trailer dual prong pig tails” and I am not sure what to do with the BLUE, RED and BLACK pig tails if I were able to complete the above configuration.
Considering the lack of availability of the old turn switch assemblies I have to assume that somebody here has done this conversion / upgrade successfully……
I am hoping that somebody has images, or better yet, a list detailing what turn signal assembly wire attaches where.
I appreciate any input and this info might be useful to other old E series owners also.
Thanks!
