    Side Mirrors . . . Opinions? Empty Side Mirrors . . . Opinions?

Post by misterbee Thu Oct 26, 2017 7:41 pm

I have been looking at getting side mirrors for my 62 ePup. I know there have been other discussions, but I have seen a few trucks with swan neck mirrors that look pretty good.

    I don't really like mixing a 30s vibe with a 60s vibe, though.

I did find these from Summit Racing.

Opinions from the eVan hive mind?

Can yo upload a picture, Wolfster?

Do the Hollywood mirrors rise enough above the door frame to give you good visbility?

Can't upload pics on this forum. PM me your email or phone and I'll send you the pics. Surprisingly they do have a decent field of vision. I have used the convex round stick on mirrors on these in the past on some other builds. The Speedway ones only come in black, though I cant see why you couldn't buy a similar chrome mirror in that style.

I'm thinking your rig isn't going to be a daily driver? If you want peep mirrors I'd at least get something with a convex mirror. It hard enough to see out of these rigs, although with a pickup I imagine it's not to bad when you need to look around, but still a good blind spot w/o 5 windows.

Man, those are really nice but cost a pretty penny! Ive looked into replacement mirrors. The stock non towing/big econo mirrors are cheap and flimsy. Theyre riveted together and one of mines rivets is loose so it vibrates like crazy. I always liked the look of those "peep" mirrors that hang down from the top. That really nice econo vango has them and i think they look very nice.

Are original side mirrors out of the question?

I've tried "Peep" mirrors on various builds. Sometimes they worked, but on the passenger side, not so well. You almost have to go to the convex lens to see anything. On the Hollywood mirrors, I can put a stick on 2-3" diameter convex and still have plenty of mirror left. All depends on the look you're going for on your vehicle.
