The Volo Museum (not too far from me), has a 1962 ePup for sale.

    Check it out!

I think it is a pretty good deal (20K) for the quality of the vehicle which is nicely restored.

I would think that if they did that kind of serious restoration, they would use the original bumpers. And maybe use stock backup lights, which would allow you to open the tailgate. Other than that, it looks great.

It does seem a little silly to have the backup lights interfere with the tailgate:

I agree, there's a lot of problems with that tailgate. It's missing the hinge covers I think. The chain is all wrong. The rods that do what they are using the chains for are missing. And besides not being able to drop the tailgate right, the bumpers look like they were made out of bent extruded aluminum of some sort. The wood in the bed is a nice touch, but I can't help but wonder, after seeing the tailgate setup, if it's hiding something. With leds, they could find a much more elegant way to do the back up light's, like I did in the bumper. It cost me $9 shipped and a couple hours. In the front, if you want fog lights or aux lights, I think it would be better to hang them below the bumper or put them behind the grill. I don't get not painting or powder coating the heater while they were at it. It doesn't have original mirrors, west coast or otherwise.  @ a $20K price tag you could cop for a set of mirrors and chrome(able)bumpers while you're at it. I'm not trying to dig in, but it doesn't even have trim. It is a 5 window though. I don't know why, but anytime I hear or read "pretty cool/rare/nice/whatever piece" my alarm bell goes off. I don't know why. It's a nice truck all the same.

Someone made those tailgate hinges. They did good job, though. It looks like there were some "short cuts" or as we call it "making it our own". I don't see 20 grand, though. I am, however starting to see where these prices come from. If I only paid my self $1.50/hour, I would have a fortune in my Epup.

For sure Jim, that's why we call it a 'hobby' Smile Some hobbyist have more $ and some have more time, skill or just jump in. No one ever get's it all back, at best I'd break even on my van after it's painted( for beer, by my buddy). Not counting up labor at any reasonable rate. The market is what it is. I think they are going up eventually and who knows, these old rig's may be the next "thing". The pickups will always be worth the most.

By comparison Mr B, your's is going to be stellar from what I've seen Very Happy Twisted Evil

Being that the 1961-62 are the least collectible it is really overpriced. Those two model years had the weakest unibody construction. The beefing up took place in 1963. Heavier roof ribs in the van was one improvement but heavier unibody overall. Then they brought out the heavy duty option late in the year. Also too many non-stock items on the truck. I'd skip this one.
