Floor Mat Template Empty Floor Mat Template

Post by Seth G Sat Feb 04, 2017 7:06 pm

I had my old floor mat laying on my van's roof flattening back out and relaxing when I went for my first shake down drive and lost it. Went and looked around the route the next day it was gone. I needed a new mat anyway but it was my template, so I needed a new template. Generally I will use 2-3" strips of doorskin/luan for templates but it needed to be more flexible to template the new mat so I used cardboard. Straight cut strips of cardboard and a hot glue gun. It worked well, I hope it helps someone out.

The general rule of templating is always trust your template. Make your template accurate, use notes on it if needed ect.

I like the wide rib pattern of this mat. Good grip but not a lot of thin grooves to gather sand and dirt. It's good stuff, Rubber-Cal is the mfr. I saw a thread here a while back. That was a 4'x6' pc there, a 3'x5' piece would be plenty. A lot of waste there for another sq ft under the passengers seat, but the price was about the same. And now I've got some good drawer liner.
