Hmmmmmmmmmmm.........
Not to hijack this thread. But can the second gen sender be bought still? Or is there a swap out for a different model?
I may be into this job later in the week.

Re: fuel sending unit???
I put this thing together for my 65, I'm calling it a prototype so dont laugh to hard.
It originally is for a 67 suburban, but that was way long but the right shape and impedence.
I had to shorten it and relocate the actual sender to the center because of the throw on the float arm, the 1st gen units dont have the same range of movement for the float arm( shorter resistor board).
the union was a last ditch effort to save what I had , a do-over would be a sleeve type coupling Tig welded or maybe soldered on, the float arm should be longer but the guy who did the tig stuff for me accidently snapped the arm and it ended up where it is. this unit also changes things to a 3/8 feul line.
If you do attempt something like this make sure your grounded safely so as not to damge the resistor when welding. Like I said its an experiment.

Re: fuel sending unit???
I got one and other than a fitting for a hose barb it matches what came out of my 67. I think the 67 GMC is the same as the 67 Chevy. A call to Quanta could settle the issue as well. Polarbear got one for his van, maybe he can shed some light on this. Thei Quanta part is SUFG 117A

Re: fuel sending unit???
Mine took just a bit of bending so it would sit all the way down and seal. Other than that it works fine.

Re: fuel sending unit???
This add just don't seem right,,,,It shows a picture of a unit that screws in,,,,,ours use a retainer,,,,,,and it says it fits a 67 -72 or something and is 30 ohms,,,,,I don't believe that,,,,,in 67 they went to 90 ohm units in our vans,,,,,,so nothing makes sense to me,,,,,,but you can check with them and verify if it really is what you want,,,,,
