Looking for a rebuild carb kit for my 170ci engine. Also, looking for a fuel pump. Any leads would be appreciated. I was looking at macs auto parts, but they got bad reviews.
Beware. There are 2 different fuel pumps for 170's. The early 170's have the same pump as the 144, the later ones are different. The early ones don't have the filter on the top. When you get the replacement compare it to yours, better yet take yours with you when you get it. If you try to mount the wrong pump you may jack up the cam but you will definitely break the arm off the fuel pump. Ask me how I know
A rebuild kit should be easy to find. You most likely have an 1100, you may have a Holley 1940 or a 1946. You need to figure that out first.
Both the fuel pump and the carb rebuild kits are available from Autozone. I suspect you can get them from any of the big chain stores, like Advance or OReillys.
Thanks for the leads! I checked out rockauto, but they have a airtex 4300 fuel pump. It's different then the one I have right now so not sure if it will work. I didn't see any repair carburetor kits on there only gaskets. I will check with auto zone and the local parts stores.
That is the later one. See how it 'goes up', the earlier one 'goes down'. I think the airteck or the spectra will work. The only place I've found to buy the early pump is from Mac's online, C & G ford may have it as well. The geometry is different on the lever and it can be forced to mount but they changed the block at some point and changed the pump placement a bit so they don't work.
I ordered my Carb Kit from Mike's Carburetor Parts http://www.carburetor-parts.com/. Everything worked perfectly. BE CAREFUL not to lose the "Accelerating discharge pump weight",it's not in the rebuild kits. Don't ask why I know this.
