Glove box door lock?
I bought a metal glove box door from Vic in Van Nuys. Anyone know where I can get a new lock or button for it? I searched here, Mac's and Dennis Carpenter and didn't find one. Thanks.

Remember you'll have to get a bezel for it in addition to the lock. I can't remember right off where I got one. I'll look this evening and post if no one else does before that.

Re: Glove box door lock?
When I looked on ebay there were a couple bezels, I wonder if either of these would work? Otherwise if you have a source for new that would be great.uante wrote:Remember you'll have to get a bezel for it in addition to the lock. I can't remember right off where I got one. Re: Glove box door lock?
I would almost want one with just a push button without a key. I wonder if something like this would work?

Re: Glove box door lock?
Those bezels look like the right kind. The push button one with the bezel you posted is a nice set. I put a hole new door/hinges/lock/bezel/latch on mine because it didn't have anything and I didn't like having the hole only there.
Not having a lock wouldn't be so bad. I don't really know why I wanted it except to keep people out when I take it to car shows, but no one really messes with your vehicle then anyway.
Here's a picture of mine (from page 9 of my thread) with the latch and side wire before paint.

Uante, did you remember where you found the replacement bezel?

Re: Glove box door lock?
I'm not sure. All I could find was that I bought a glove box lock with keys on eBay in 2014. Not sure if the bezel was with it or not...the picture and listing don't show anymore. I didn't find one on Carpenters or Macs. I'm pretty sure it was a new reproduction though, just can't place where I got it.

No Problem, let me know if it comes to you. Did you make the catch cable or does someone sell that?
Thanks,
Jerry

Re: Glove box door lock?
Hey Jerry,
I looked through all my saved links and I can't find either the bezel or cable. I thought Carpenter's or Mac's had them, but looks like the have Mustang and Bronco ones and not sure if they will work.

Re: Glove box door lock?
By the way I ended up taking a chance and buying this push button and bezel, was worth it for only 11 bucks. Turned out it works perfect. So heads up to anyone in the same boat, looks like 60-63 Falcon push button is the same.

Re: Glove box door lock?
Uante, any chance you can upload a picture with your door closed. I installed mine over the weekend but it doesn't open nearly as far as yours, just curious where the hinge brackets bolt to the dash on yours. I will upload some pictures of mine soon. The way mine installed doesn't even seem like it would require the cable, it just stops on its own.

Re: Glove box door lock?
FYI, the keyed lock is a push button to. So long as it isn't locked you don't need the key

Re: Glove box door lock?
The cable is sold on ebay and you could probably go to a locksmith and have the glovebox door button rekeyed to match your ignition. It's pretty cheap to do

Re: Glove box door lock?
Yeah that's an idea, I think I got lucky and like the push button without the key hole. I'll stick with this low cost option.
