    Yes, Twin is right, the right application technique is key with this type of glue! Applying a thin bead of glue to both surfaces, then smearing the glue so that it becomes a thin layer, and then wait until the glue on both surfaces is tacky, then you are ready to connect the gasket and lid together. However, once you touch the two sides together thats it, you can't reposition!  Also, I found that you need to put adhesive on the outside top lip of the doghouse as well as the side so that the lip of the gasket sits tight. I ended up taking my doghouse lid out of the van and prepping the gasket and doghouse lid in small sections at a time.

    TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ill add = whenever replacing =ANY SEALS- windows doors lids , ect. always push the rubber toward the outermost area- due to shrinkage over time- esp. in summer heat!! Then butt the ends together -Tightly!! cheers
