You just have to love my custom drop light, I was prepping the new engine for paint, it received a coat of primer after Don left.

someone before me had taken it off, it had several self tapping screws holding it down. after removing a ton of nasty heavily glued carpet on and around it.samsvan wrote:Nice project. How did you get the doghouse off so clean?

Doni, it's weird but I've bought 2 of these and there's no paperwork or part #. The box on the one I just got looked hand made.

Re: Russells 65 Chevy SportVan Deluxe
Hey, you've already got the "burger fan" in place! Attaching it to the sway bar is a good way to do it.
It would be nice to have a removable doghouse, as long as you can get it sealed up tight after reinstalling it.
What kind of transmission are you going with?

Re: Russells 65 Chevy SportVan Deluxe
I went to Champion Radiators web site and tried every # on the label and found nothing. Those #'s must be from the seller instead of the manufacture.

Re: Russells 65 Chevy SportVan Deluxe
I just looked at the ebay page again, at the bottom under specifics it has the manufacture as "Auto city classic" I think the info on "Champion" came from the other post.wideload wrote:I went to Champion Radiators web site and tried every # on the label and found nothing. It looks well made, capable for a V-8 and has a lifetime warranty. I'll let you know how it works when I get it in and running.

The fan came from a Honda VTX in a box of parts I bought for a bike I was building.VANagain wrote:Hey, you've already got the "burger fan" in place! Attaching it to the sway bar is a good way to do it.

The Doghouse would be easily removed if I make a seperate mount for the throttle linkage. with any luck I won't have to take it off again, it makes it nice to work on everything around the engine, trans bolts, fuel line and pump, motor mounts, etc.
It has a power glide that seemed to work fine when I drove it.

Here's the Auto City Classics listing.

E-bay is cheaper.

Re: Russells 65 Chevy SportVan Deluxe
Nice detective work guys. Their site lists 2 "street rod" universal radiators that will fit width wise and are a little taller. They both have 2 rows of 1 1/8" tubes. I would have gone this route if I'd have known about it.

Re: Russells 65 Chevy SportVan Deluxe

The radiator is not a direct bolt in,(at least not in my Van). My Van didn't have the original radiator or the support it came with, the radiator was old and ugly and probably didn't work well. The support looks like a rail from industrial shelving bent and hanging underneath." />
Today I took the support out, trimmed away the sides and jagged edges and made clearance for the fittings, bolted it back in and it seems to hang in the right place.
My aftermarket flex fan was too close to the radiator and after taking out the spacer it was still too close and just touched the harmonic balancer.
I found an old water pump and clamped it in a vise, mounted the fan to it and was able to twist the blades just a little to give it more clearance, I used a string and nut for weight I hung from the garage door to measure each blade as I turned it to get them even.
It looks pretty straight and has about 1/4 inch from the balancer and about 1/2 inch from the radiator. tomorrow I'll test fit the doghouse and make some better mounts for the side of the radiator.

I'm having a little trouble posting the pictures where I want them

This shows the clearance better, the screwdriver is holding it away till I make the mounts.
