Hey all, a question on the 144 to 200 motor swap. I want to change the motor mounts. If I get the mounts for the 144 E-100, will these work for the Falcon 200 motor? Thanks...John

Re: motor mounts
As long as your 200 is an early block it should swap right in. I assume you have a manual transmission? The motor mounts are different for the auto.

Re: motor mounts
Murdock, The 200 is a '65 Falcon, and yes, it is a 3 spd. That being said, I can order new mounts for a '63 144 motor, and the '65 Falcon 200 will mount right up, right?
Thanks for the help...........John

Re: motor mounts
Later blocks work fine. Most, if not all blocks have the small pattern or the dual pattern. All 144's and 170's use the small pattern. All 200 blocks '65 and earlier have only the small pattern, all '66 and up should have the dual pattern, w/ the exception of the 80-83 blocks with the low mount starter, those have a whole other pattern which is a partial SBF pattern for the bell. The low mount block is the one to avoid, unless you want to use a modern transmission.
John, the 144 motor mounts will bolt right onto the 200. What year is the van? If it's a '64 the difference between the A/T and the M/T was in the hangers, to drop the motor down. Old Skool has posted alot of info about this if you do a search. Afaik, the motor mounts are the same for the two contrary to what Mac's lists as Auto or Manual mounts. There are 61-64 mounts and 65-67 mounts, not a/t and m/t mounts. The fact you have a 144 indicates your's is a '64 or earlier. You can't use later style mounts(angled), you have to use the '64 and earlier mounts(90 degrees)

Re: motor mounts
You posted while I was typing my msg. Yes you'll be fine with the 63 mounts, and since the 200 was a 65 with a manual, it should all be fine bell pattern-wise.
