Question about outside mirror mount Empty Question about outside mirror mount

Post by rustytoolss Sat Oct 24, 2015 8:20 pm

My 64 has the 5x7 outside mirrors with the mount that has 3 screws holding the base/arm to the body.
My question is..is there a plate inside the door skin, that helps support the mirror to the body.
I've seen other dodge trucks with this inner reinforcement plate. Anyone know about this ?

I remember a backing plate being there. It has threads in it for the mirror base and the plate is spotwelded to the door.

Thanks for the information. As everyone knows the passenger side door mirror is very hard to see with. What I might do , is try to make a wedged shaped piece, and place it under the base of the mirror arm. As to produce more inward angle for better viewing.

Or you could heat up the arm and twist it inwards. Problem with the 5x7 mirror is that it comes really close to the side window. I made a modified angled axle between the mirror and the arm.
