Maybe a dumb question, being this is my first inline 6, but is it normal to hear the oil drain back into the pan after you turn the engine off.

Re: Inline 6 Oil Question
It's not something I've ever noticed or listened for but not something I'd be to concerned with. So long as you have the proper level in the sump and your oil pressure looks good. I like having an actual gauge instead of just relying on the idiot light. The previous owner installed one on the front of the doghouse in my van.

I've heard the waterfall noise you're talking about from a 67 I looked at few weeks ago. I have no idea what caused it though.

Re: Inline 6 Oil Question
Just think of it as the audio portion of your light or gauge, at least when the motor's shut down.

Re: Inline 6 Oil Question
When I shut down my 66 Travel Wagon with a 240ci I hear this as well. I'm not a mechanic but I don't think its something to be too concerned about.

Re: Inline 6 Oil Question
I have a 250 six in my 1961 ePuP and I hear it everytime probably because I have no insulation on the doghouse. Normal!!!!
