Wow, slik, good luck at getting any sleep tonight!! That's a great looking Dodge, kinda looks like Dix's long lost twin! Congrats on your purchase and welcome to Vintage Vans. You'll be very happy with all the support and help you can get here just for the asking.

Re: New a100 shorty owner.
Where is the best place to find rain gutters? I guess they r called. The bulk of the roof is pristine. Like the day it rolled off the line but there's a lot of bad rust in several lengthy areas of where the roof meets the walls? Sorry for obvious bad terminology. I'm pretty handy with this stuff but don't know all the terms. At the gutter in some areas the rust is so bad there are pinholes of daylight. But the rust is only about a half inch thick running down especially the inside of the passenger side gutter. Like water sat in it. This is a west coast SF van so most of it is very nice.
Thanks

Looks like your dog whats to go for a ride. Thats one of the Bad things about Cail vans, they rust from the top down(sun Bakes out seam sealer in drip edge, & water gets in )

Me new Too
Hey, Your post is so cool. I am getting my garage ready to bring a 1968 A-100 I inherited from my best friend (he sadly died 2 years ago). I was able to purchase it from the family because they know I am a huge Mopar head. Hoping to tow it here this week. It is white like yours. so this is my first post but Ive been looking here since I knew I would eventually end up with this van. Let me know how to post a pic and I will send you one. John

Are you in Oregon? Portland is one of my favorite cities in the world when I hit 50 my wife asked me what I wanted to do and I wanted to spend it in Portland. It's beautiful there and I need me some more voodoo donuts!
Congrats on your van these things are awesome sorry to hear about your friend. I'm definitely keeping my vintage and not fixing it up real nice I wanted to run mechanically strong and have good breaks but I don't want to make it Showy. I want to remove all the rest I can around the drip edges and get the body has rust free as possible.

4 generations a Portland man. At least on my profile you can see the Van. I have to move my 1970 Challenger to a barn in order to make space for this van.

Re: New a100 shorty owner.
carb was leaking all over intake manifolds. Took the car to get titled and came back w super headache. Opened doghouse and saw it. diagnosed it coming out of the accelerator pump so I'm guessing hole in diaphragm. Carb off ready for rebuild. starting to clean engine as well with purple power. amazing sutff

Re: New a100 shorty owner.
PO neglected to tell me that he patched up tank w JB weld. Leaking like a sieve. Came out to garage to smell fumes horribly. PO is lucky to be alive! Plus it kinda sux. Wish people were more upfront if nothing else I could have compiled a list of to do instead of dangerously finding stuff out. Oh well.
I want a new tank but cn't find an aftermarket maker. I have googled quite a bit. Does anyone make one for a 66 a100? I weld and could weld it but never welded a tank. I'd have to research it so I don't blow myself up. I really want a new one tho if anyone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!!!

Re: New a100 shorty owner.
wow. so i went to drop the tank and new to these vans I was wondering how it was going to drop fro the steel beam it was sitting on. then i unhook everything and figure it will slide out the front of the beam. Then i see the shoddy welds on the beam and bracket and think...wtf? this can't be a stock accessory. Appears someone welded this hitch on and trapped the tank. So now I have a half tank of gas wedged between a steel beam and the body. I can't grind the beam which would take mere minutes because the gas smell is so bad leaking all over my garage floor. I couldn't leave the tank like this and if i did i certainly had to get this ticking time bomb out of my garage. One spark and house would go up in flames. And how was I going to decrease the risk of danger with fuel in the tank. Sooo...I put a hose in the inlet of the fuel tank and slowly added water and let the gas rise to the top and spill back out in to a bucket. I emptied about twenty buckets in the back woods until it came out pretty clear. Still wary of creating sparks with the grinder, i used the sawzall which was a beeeeeehoch.
anyway will theres a will theres a way. Tanks out. Will gring off the remaining old hitch off my bumper once all the gas is dry.
