Now that would be funny. They could do a t.v. show called "Uber Creepers" and show the reaction of the soon to be passengers as one of our vans pull up!

Re: "Creeper" Vans? WTF?!
Our vans were built in a time of "innocence", let's face it, those days are long gone... Now days every thing and every move we make is questioned and often video'd for all to see... There are more eyes in the world...
Yes these vans have been used countless times for "no good", but that is a small number compared to those who haven't! Jokes and all...
So..... We either blow it off to ignorance and ignore the clueless, or promote the positives and educate those who are willing to know about them as we do

When I got my '68 Chevy Panel that's what everyone said. "Oooo, pedo van" and so forth. It was all of the young guys saying that so I knew that they meant it in good spirit, and all of them thought it was the coolest rig they have ever seen.
When I got my '69 GMC window, none of that applied... Then again, the crowd was already familiar with my panel, so they knew what to expect.

I guess being called a "Scooby Van" is not so bad after all compared to what some peoples opinions are on theses Old Van's...I would rather drive around solving mystery's..!!!..

Re: "Creeper" Vans? WTF?!
You could wear brothel creepers! Seriously though, I've been sketched out by a dirty old late model van before. If you were going to kidnap somebody you'd probably want something more dependable than an early I would think!
Where I live in the early 90's there was a lot of black windowless vans driving around selling speakers and other electical equipment out of the back. Never bought any-obviously stolen. And then there was some guy named Kelly Swoboda who had an actual dungeon in the back of his van in Oregon. Talk about a stereotype..
I get overwhelmingly positive responses to my van though, and it is far from show quality. The people who are truly creeped out are always kind of dorks. I usually get offers to buy it.

A few days after I started this thread, I was working in the garage with the door up and a young guy, maybe 15, was ridin by on his skateboard and abruptly stopped and approached me.......Hey Mister! What kind of van is that?.... It's a creeper van! I replied.....Yeah, I guess it is, he said, but that is kind of what makes it cool!.. Me and my buddy want to get one of those when we graduate High School and travel across the country.... You don't think it's creepy or would label you a creeper? I asked......No, most folks that would bring that up are secretly smirking or winking (or both) or are dorks that believe urban legend........ I proceeded to tell him all about the van and the history of vans back to the 60's.....
He said he'd be thrilled to be a member of The Creepers......Maybe there is hope for the future after all!

Re: "Creeper" Vans? WTF?!
I've had two experiences.
#1 I was getting ready to leave the local 7-11 when my cousin and her friend pulled up. they didn't notice me at first, how I don't know, my 68 Chevy sticks out like a sore thumb, so I honked the horn and stared at them. Her friend look creeped out, and my cousin just said, "You look like a raper in that van." My reply... "Yawl want some caaaaaaandy?"
#2 I was leaving work one day and a couple of my co-workers that I don't know were standing around and I heard one say "Oh no, that doesn't scream rape at all" while pointing at my van.

Well at least you're not driving a Porsche and having everyone think you have a little ding-a-ling!
