Is it possible to vapor lock at 195-200 degrees or could I have picked up a piece of trash that clogged the fuel flow ? Coming back from a show today ( the same one I got side swiped at last year) running at 180 degrees, hit stop and go traffic and temp climbed to 200. A couple minutes later it just shut off. Checked carb, no gas. Sat for about 15 minutes and it started back up and made it home. Its never ran hot before but it was 90 degrees outside and I was running it about 70 mph, 350 rear and stock 302.

Re: vapor lock
Is your tank clean,,,,,,,,sometimes the fuel pick up tube in the tank sucks up something that stops the fuel flow to the fuel pump,,,,,,,,,,,,once the engine dies, it looses suction and whatever was blocking the tube, floats away until it ends up blocking off the tube again,,,,,

Nope ,never done it before and never got above 180. No fuel smell on dipstick. It has electric pump, seems good but who knows. Hoping I just picked up some trash, not sure how good-bad the tank is inside. Going to reroute fuel line to get it more away from the engine.

Re: vapor lock
No ,Its an electric fuel pump, hard line from pump to front of doghoue then rubber to carb. Just got back from the Lone Star Round up and saw a few cars that had the clothes pins on the fuel line.

Re: vapor lock
I had the same problem in my 63 so I took my sending unit out of the tank and the screen was trashed. The come out without dropping the tank. Put a new one in and changed filter and never had a problem again.
