Cool Vid! My only critique: I would have much rather heard sounds of the van instead of crappy metallica music. It was a neat vid after I muted the sound.

All you would have heard was the wind that day . Mute is for sounds you don't like.kookykrispy wrote:Cool Vid! My only critique: I would have much rather heard sounds of the van instead of crappy metallica music. It was a neat vid after I muted the sound.

Awsome! Got my engine, tranny, t-case, and axles in. Now for plumbing and wiring. Thanks for the motivational video! I'm shooting for the end of April for my shakedown run. And hopefully a road trip to VA Beach to see my pops, and that would definitely involve a trip to at least Corolla if not Oregon inlet or hatteras for some beach driving for a good surf spot.

Very Cool! do you run with lower tire pressure on the sand? Whenever I ran my Bronco on a beach, it would dig right in without lowering the tire pressure! Kill Devil Hills, is that Hatteras? That's where I used to camp with my Bronco and they let you drive on the beach without a permit, at your own risk of course!

No I did not air down . and I am in kill devil hills . when in my jeep or vw buggy I air down . the tires on van are MT ( street ) drag slick style . in the sand you don't need any tread but you need em wide . if you have a skinny mud tire I would always air down . this van just floats across the sand .
The only real problem is when you hit tracks make by others. I want to fab up some sort of power steering . and buy myself some new shocks .

Re: Beach run shake down test.
How long (or short) is your drive shaft? I was worried about the shaft being too short for good articulation. I have a TBI 350 with a 700r4 (longer than a 350t) and a steel np205 that I'm about to fit to my '68 shorty and the lack of driveshaft length scared me to the point of going with IDRS with coilovers... That way the diff is always in line with the output shaft... Am I overthinking???
Thanks,
Brian
