61 pickup radiator Empty 61 pickup radiator

    Post by bmurphyl512 Wed Oct 08, 2014 7:23 pm

    Hi everyone,

I know the subject of radiators have been discussed here before, but I haven't seen any discussion specifically addressing a source for a new radiator for a 61 with a 144. I have seen some on ebay that say they fit but when I contacted them they say they wont fit. SO any thoughts on where to get a replacement radiator which doesnt need modifications.

    Thanks,
    Murphy

Murphy, There is no bolt in radiator available. The best replacement is a early Mustang radiator but needs to be flipped around and re drilled or have a shop put a new core on your top and bottom parts and the Econo side mounts.

My 61 econo tuck has an aluminum aftermarket radiator without an electric fan and it didn't overheat once when I drove it up to Washington State from Orange County CA.

Hello, how has been with the radiator?

    I have a 1962 with a 200 engine and a busted radiator.

what would be the best option for my van, we get temps up to 105 in the summer, want to make it a daily driver, I avoid heavy traffic as much as I can.

Champion now makes an Econoline radiator or so one is sold as such. The link is in a recent post. It's the same one you just linked mariovan, your first link there to ebay. They make at least two models, Champion #6065LD and #6065LP difference is port locations. Appears be a direct bolt in. Mounting flange is on the correct side.

Oddly enough, if you go to Champions website they don't list it and list instead a Mustang type radiator for the Econoline. Which is near identical, except the mounting tabs are on the front side of the radiator instead of the engine side. Champion probably hasn't updated their website yet to include the 6065LD and 6065LP. It can be directly searched and is there but not linked to any vehicle application.

But this is the one you want, the 6065LD:

Same as your first ebay link
