I had my 300 running and accidently ran the tank dry. Now it's no joy. Could I have sucked water into the system? I did have a new inline fuel filter on.

Shouldn't be a big problem, sometimes getting gas back to the carb can be a pain but it will come. If you're concerned you could replace the filter after you get it going again.

No danger, it's not like a diesel or newer EFI system. Just put some gas in the tank and remove the air cleaner and use some starter fluid or carefully pour a little gas down the carb and get it to fire up. Sometimes you will have to repeat the process a few times to get the pump to get gas up to the carb. Warning, keep your face clear of the engine while cranking the engine as a back fire will burn you.
