Met Chris along time ago at Taz fest, talked to me like I had known him forever. A true gentleman he was. He asked me if I had ever heard about this web site that talked all about Early Vans I told him I didnt and to this day I still thank him in my mind for telling me. He will be truely missed. Rest In Peace Chris

Re: Rest In Peace G-Man
Chebby, I was looking at that today. 30 thousand posts. And he also registered on the "new forum" 6 years ago today. I don't know how many from the old board. His posts led me to all three of my vans. There's a whole lot of us found ourvans via G-man, our Mayor.
I only met Chris once at Bakers.I really believe that he smiled and laughed the whole day.He made ya feel like you've known him for ever. Most definitely "Good People" as we say.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family.
Rest in Peace, G-Man.

Life is about how many we touch and help. I'm new to these van forums/groups, but I could tell that G Man(Chris) touched all of you. That's what makes a man and becomes his legacy.

I am shocked by the news of GMans passing! The presence of him not being on here is already felt for me. I will miss the sea of yellow in the for sale sections. Rest in Peace Chris!

Re: Rest In Peace G-Man
I too am a bit shocked to hear this news. It was Chris that I first got to know here and he chatted me up to be sure to attend Baker's even though my van wasn't ready for the road. My first visit I hung out under his headquaters "tent" with him for some time and he made you feel like you were family in short order. He was always the first person I visited every time I went there after.
I thought I had a couple great pictures of that first visit but I had to have lost them when my PC crashed a couple years ago as I could not find them. Rest in peace Chris.

Reading these posts is working as my therapy. I find myself logging on several times a day just to read what you all have to say and realize the legacy Chris has left behind. Thanks (Chebby?) for posting that picture of Chris on the Home Page. That was from the 26th Annual Super Chevy Show at Milan Dragway in 2006. Chris and I took First and Second Place in our category and then took pictures of each other proudly displaying our awards in front of our vans! What fond memories! Thanks to everyone for sharing their memories. And only 47 days till the Baker's/G-Man Memorial Van Show!

Re: Rest In Peace G-Man
It's sad when you have unfinished business with someone who passes on. I was never able to make it to Bakers as Vanfest is usually the week before but I had told Chris that I would be there this year. It would have been great to see him in his element at this great event that I've heard nothing but great reviews from. I promised Chris that I'd help out with the event with some of the 2014 calendar funds. I'm working with Billski on how to direct the money promised and some extra in the right direction. Although we never made it to each others events we did meet up at Autorama and the Nationals on a number of occasions. Here's my favorite shot of Chris, John Jackson from notstockphotography.com took it on our way to National Trails during the 2011 National Truck-In.

Re: Rest In Peace G-Man
My wife and I are so sorry to hear of Chris's passing and prayers going out to his family and friends. I remember when I joined the site, Chris was there with open arms and information on any questions that I had on my truck. He also convinced me to come to bakers even though my truck had not had the body work done on it that I wanted. I am so glad that we went up and get to meet everyone. Chris was the first there to meet us and had us park on the front row so we would be in the pic. What a special person he was and a great role model for all of us Vaners to follow.

Some may find it amazing that a guy from Michigan can touch so many around the world.
We all know different.
He helped all of us at one time or another.
He helped me with advice for the Gathering of Early's Show.
I will miss Chris and I pray he has peace.
