I still say this tank would be the Easyst by just moveing the filler neck and the front mounting crossmember foward a little....Your tank pictured has a lot of raised areas on the top that might interfear with the floor of the van plus you still have 2 vent lines to deal with also....JMO http://www.gastanksusa.com/19chchgvanne.html?utm_source=googlepepla&utm_medium=adwords&id=18283950120&utm_content=pla&gclid=COG9hO6B_rwCFZLm7AodlkUAvg

That tank would be quite a bit deeper also. That sending unit is several inches longer than the stock van unit. I adapted a 66 sender to mine and it is very different but still 30 ohms.

I just called bothers 26" wide 13"deep 17"long front to rear. He could not give filler location or diameter he said 1 1/2" most common. The sender is 30 ohms is that what I need? For the vent lines I could just plug right? So what you guys think should I go for it.

I just went out and measured old tank 1 3/8 filler tube it was close to stock but like 3" deeper. I was thinking of shifting tank off center to the right I might be able to route the neck to the off center filler neck on the brothers one.

Re: fuel tank from brothers 63-66 truck
Here is a 16 gallon 1st Gen tank,,,,,,,It has a 30 ohm sending unit in it,,,,,,,the crossmember REALLY don't like to be moved,,,,,,the hose holes in the frame are like in the center of the tank,,,,you need a vent pipe or the tank won't take much gas,,,,you need a pick up tube for the gas line to the fuel pump,,,,,the filler neck uses a 1 3/8" weird size hose,,,,so see how close that tank is to a real one.....

Re: fuel tank from brothers 63-66 truck
Thanks Donivan I was waiting for your reply on this. The brothers tank might just work if i shift it to the right im thinking to give me more room to connect filler hose seeing that this one is a touch off center.

Re: fuel tank from brothers 63-66 truck
I got tired just looking at removing all those spot welds without destroying it and the van frame and floor and having to mount it back in good enough so the rear end don't fall out,,,,,,,,,

Re: fuel tank from brothers 63-66 truck
Vancrazy I hope it works out for you I will keep my fingers crossed.. ..Once again Thanks donivan for your help..!!!..Vanish someone posted not to long ago (I cant remember who) that drilled out the spot welds and moved the cross member forward and bolted it back in and fit a 2ND gen 22 gallon tank in a first Gen but like donivan said they dont like to be moved....I tried to contact North West Metal products and found out they sold the making gas tank part of the company to Sun Set Metal Fab and I Emailed them to see if they have the pattern for 64-66 Chevy Van's and 67-70 also I told them if priced reasonable there might be a good demand from our site A-G and E's I will wait for there reply they specialize in over sized gas tanks maby a 22-25 gallon for a 1ST Gen bolt in...I will keep everyone posted they have a lot of the old patterns...

Re: fuel tank from brothers 63-66 truck
I just got done moving my crossmember to fit the 22 gallon tank. I did it mainly to fit in the fuel injection sender and pump unit. I have to say, there are a lot of spot welds to cut out, (used a spot weld cutter) and a lot of time to remove it without destroying it. After it is out, just a matter of moving it forward 3 inches, then rosette welding the holes left from the cutter. Of course, longer straps are needed to mount the larger tank in place.

Re: fuel tank from brothers 63-66 truck
I got the Brothers tank today. Looks like its going to work. Filler neck is 1 3/8 and vent is 1/2 same as filler neck. I plan to shift the tank all the way to right side frame rail leaving about 5" from left side frame for the hose to bend slightly to filler on tank. I have to modify the front arched tank bracket up 2" and it should fit great. I will get some Pics rolling as soon as progress starts up again. I want to make it to Bakers this year so I need to really put the work in high gear as soon as it warms up around here. So there is no cross member mods needed with this install.

It works great
So this is the tank for you if you want to do very little mods. Here are some pics of what I got so far. All I can say this tank is well worth it. Will need straps reworked a bit and had to remove some of the front tank cradle on the crossmember and it goes tight to floor I plan to put 1/4 rubber to isolate tank to floor. That will be just enough for sender unit to clear.

Re: fuel tank from brothers 63-66 truck
I also put 1 1/4 pipe inside filler (my floor jack handle) and tweeked it at an angle and down while taping on the tank just below the neck to let it move easier. Was y a bit not very much at all. I got the rubber filler hose from fillernecksupply.com. 1 3/8
