O/T I remember......

Most of us here are older 40-60 and things have changed alot since we were younger. This post is about things and places that are gone now for the most part. I have a few, remember Drive-in's and A&W dine in's

WE are lucky enough to still have a 50's style drive in and once a month have a event for Car/Truck Shows and they show old movies...Bullet,American Graffiti,Hollywood Nights,.......,But one thing that is long gone around here is FULL SERVICE Gas stations where they would pump your gas check your oil and wash your windshield.!!!..  ...

I remember when people street raced from stop light to stop light, every night ,in both directions ,on Central Av in Phoenix. On a slow night it made American Graffiti look like a Tea Party.

Missing the ="Drive inn's"  restaurants for burgers = car hops & drive in movie theaters! I remember  when we could see  a car with a 6-71 blower wheelstand on the street!! Had a local gas station owner that on some sat eves-would pull out his chev powered rail & run it down the main street!! back in the shop & doors down -before police could get there!!  

25 cent =double burgers,25 cent a gallon gas, we could drive all weekend for a few bux!! 

Really =BIG!! Back Seats in all our cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like a ride in disneyland!!!HeHe-

Remember having only 3 television channels, so you went outside and played.."why do you think they call it programming"

.....Having to pour a case of beer out cruising Mooney Blvd as all our HS buddies drove by so the cops wouldn't call our parents. Then being sent on our way....

I worked at many full serve gas stations , and remember self serve was just starting to be used. Many back then never pumped there own gas so we were still busy in Full Serve.

Another thing you don't see now is 5 and 10 stores

Soda counters in stores

Stuffing 3 guys in the trunk and going to the drive in!!!

Say Vannin Ken= Does that mean you are now- "comming out"?? I always put girls in my trunk!!   

Drive inns (food) you could actually =drive around!!  

I remember going to the Drive in in my buddies second gen Econoline loaded with living room furniture. We would pull it all out and set it up sit back and watch the movies. Oh the looks we would get.

Bruce I used to add a reclininer in the back of my 67 for road trips for my buddy to ride in. Not the safest idea but he thought it was cool:-)

Remember on Sunday's almost all stores were closed

remember in the late 60s racing from light to light on Lincoln highway rt 30 between canton and Massillon ohio my budy had a 67 dodge coronet with a 383 wedge and I in my 56 chevy 409,those were the days,

And I remember Racing down Rt. 130 in Jersey in my 66 Mustang with a Boss 302 4:11 posi.
I always took the left lane as the rt side Hush Thrush would often blow and shoot flames. They would back off, and bingo I won. I use to collect my cash. Then drive home and get a new one. I don't think I made at on that one now that I think back.

I sure do miss the drive-ins   

How about "call waiting" was sitting by the phone (connected to the wall with a wire and you REALLY dialed the numbers) waiting for it to ring...
