GM Alternator swap Empty GM Alternator swap

Post by Full Tilt Boogie Tue Jan 28, 2014 6:33 pm

So, I attempted the Ford 3G swap and the alternator I ordered was too big. I couldn't get the proper clearance after the header install. So... I switched to a late 70's GM Van alternator (that someone suggested on this forum, thanks!) I was able to get it to fit with no major hang ups. The only issue I ran into was running the white wire to the Generator light. I hooked the white wire to the yellow/black wire and the light was on constant. When hooked to the black wire, I wasn't able to turn the van off. Everything I've seen online doesn't say anything specific to these vans... I'm sure someone here knows the trick. Any info is appreciated!
