Alternator swap

Hello everyone.
I've looked through the archives and haven't seen or may not have seen a swap to a Ford alternator. I see alot of GM swaps into an E' series van.

is this a cost or efficiency thing? Im going to put a 71 Maverick/Mustang 170 alternator and the resistor from Radio Shack. its about 35$ total.

why hasn't anybody else done this?

,,,well,,,,,,a $29 one wire GM Alternator with the voltage regulator built in is way easier to put in than getting an alternator that you need to wire up an external voltage regulator,,,doesnt that Maverick use the same system as a Van with an Alternator?

dont know, im swapping out the original generator.
AND wanted to keep it ford.

you surely don't want that generator,,,,,and your Ford vans did come with an Alternator,,,,so you have plenty of choices,,,,,but you need to upgrade your wiring if you put a bigger Alternator on it,,,,,they make some Big output Alternators and some for big money also,,,,,,
