Generator/Alternator swap?

Hey guys, sorry if this is a beat into the ground topic but I haven't been able to find much info so I figured I'd ask.

the generator on my 1964 Econoline is done for. Wondering what others have done for an alternator?? Would a bracket for a later econoline alternator be a good choice?

Do a search on "generator." This has been covered in the "E van General Discussion" forum.

Basically you need the alternator, bracket, and matching regulator from a later vehicle.

I believe that you also have to install a resistor across the idiot light. See the attached drawing.

Some of the modern alternators have the regulator built in, which makes it easy to connect.

Put a 3rd Generation Chevy Alternator on it
with an internal regulator built in and get rid of that inefficient wiring and voltage regulator and overpriced Ford stuff,,,,,,
