65 GMC Handivan Drop Spindles? Empty 65 GMC Handivan Drop Spindles?

Post by Guest Tue Sep 17, 2013 3:44 pm

Hey everybody, this is my first post and just joined the site.  I have a 65 g van with solid front axle and am looking to lower it slightly.  I found some 2" drop spindles for a 65 nova on craigslist.  Will they work.  If not are there readily available drop spindles that work for my application?

    Thanks!!

WELCOME to VV!!!cheers ..Drop spindles is probably gonna be your best bet other than modifying your stock springs (remove some leafs) you will just have to see witch ones will work.. Leave the stock spring MOUNTS alone!!!! ....Someone here should know witch spindles will work..!!!!!

welcome to the site, to answer your question, the nova spindles are for a ball joint/ upper and lower
control arm type front suspension, our vans have a straight front axle with a king pin, so no they won`t work. I have never seen a set of dropped spindles for our vans. modifying the springs is about your only way to go.

I have been looking around and the only other option aside from the springs is modifying the axle but that is more than I want to spend.

I was looking for something like a "bolt on" solution.  Oh well stock ride height will work for now.  Thanks to all, this is very helpful!

on the first gen or 64/66 you can remove a leaf or two from the front and lower it an inch or two
but the lower you go the more you give up in ride quality.

Thought we had someone that FLIPPED the front axle before to drop it? ((or maybe more than one person)). I took out only one leaf. Figured the extra weight from the 350 would drop it the other little bit.
