Does anyone have picture of the short style hood prop rod ? My pickup may have been changed over the years ?? I see a slot on the passenger side rear inner doghouse cover. But have no idea where and how the prop rod was connected. it's missing. Also how was it clipped to the hood? The hood has no provisions for the long rod.

Re: Short style hood prop rod
Sorry, I just went out and checked and ALL of mine have the long rod.
All my long rods use a hole in the left front radiator crossmember.
Is there a bolt hole for a bracket about midway on the right?
Is there a Hole in the undercover bracing on the right side?
Those would be the signs I'd look for. Hope someone here can point you in the right direction.

Hangs from the undercover bracing, swings forward and locks into a hole in the center.

The only thing I see is a slot on the inner passenger side engine cover , about 8" from the back.RodStRace wrote:Sorry, I just went out and checked and ALL of mine have the long rod.

Re: Short style hood prop rod
It slides through the slot and hangs down into the engine compartment alongside the passenger side engine panel. It's a bent, stiff wire type of strut. I will get a shot of it in the closing position for you....does your engine cover have two screw holes or studs near the rear, passenger side? I am certain that if I was to find a wire that size and stiffness, I could make a bunch of them up.

Re: Short style hood prop rod
My engine cover has a lot of insulation on it (needs to be replaced hanging down). I don't feel a mounting location on the Hood/ cover. But the holes might be there. after seeing a better picture of yours I'm sure I can come up with a plan.67Dodger wrote:It slides through the slot and hangs down into the engine compartment alongside the passenger side engine panel. On mine there is no hole in the cross bar near the radiator for the long style prop rod. And there also is no clip to hold the long style rod.
I like the short rod better. Not in your way all the time.
Thanks, Shawn

Re: Short style hood prop rod
Wow, that's another version I haven't seen before!
So there is the short right hand one,
the one that clips to the center of the cover and
the one that is hooked to the left side, with a clip at the top of the doghouse, that goes to a hole under the cover.
Here's a link to a pic

allpar doesn't allow picture linking, so you have to go to the site. thrid one down...
Oh, and searching for pics, I found another site (pretty sparce)
