Anyone got a first Gen floor mat that's in good shape? Or know where I can get one.
Saw a generic one on eBay but it looks like junk. Any help would be great.

    Dan

    Bill,
It was one of those crappy "one size fits all" mats. "Click Here"

Is the one you have in fair shape? What would you want for it?

    Thx,
    Dan

Dan I have Looked at it out of the Box and it Looks Good ... Here's the thing ..... I really didn't Buy it to sell it or Even Use it !!!!! I know that sounds STRANGE !!!!! My Thought on it was to Use it for a Pattern.... and make some up !!!! This is what I gotta say about the Floor mats !!! if you Buy a van and it's already got one in it ... Pull it up and toss it in the trash.... Cause it holds Moisture on the Floor and that's where we get the Flintstone Factor going on in our vans !!!! but I think a floor mat would be cool if you could take it out and Dry- or = Clean under it !!!!! The Carpet thing Just wont work for me Up front .... So any way.... if you would Like maybe we could get something Going on this ???? I'M GAME ........ if you are !!!!! I am not trying to make money on this thing Just think it would be cool to have Front Floor mats that fit our vans ....... for ANY ONE THAT WOULD BE INTERESTED ....

    Bill,
Wanted a mat to put down after I have the floor covered "Rino liner" since later this year I will be moving back to Michigan and knew the Moisture on the Floor issue would always be there...

    Well, I'm game.... That's a cool idea.
What were you thinking of using as material to cut the mats?

Donivan said that up until not so long ago you could still order black rubber mats for our Chevy vans (J.C. Whitney?). A friend here with a 66 Travelcruiser has a black mat that looks way too new and shiny to be original, must be one of those.

My Sportvan came with the stock mat, turquoise to match the paint. I want to see if I can clean it up and use it. It's got a few tears but not too bad considering the age. We'll see. I could easily make a cardboard template from it and send you that, if you like.

Yes, it's true that these rubber mats were the bane of our floorboards, but we would be smart enough to clean under it now and then, or after a rain, make sure no water leaks in and just sits under it.

I don't have a mat in my 64 and really too far away from there to really think about that, but this idea is for you guy's with the tears. Since they are both rubber how about some sort of tire repair item on the back side of the mat???

Funny you should say that. I was just lookin at them at Hom-D today. They seems kinda flimzy around the edges. Th guy there said to check Northern tool and that they had rolls 36" wide and you buy by the foot.... I'm going to check it out tomorrow.

Has anyone considered the rubber mat on a large roll at Home Depot that is sold by the foot? I saw it in the aisle where they sell indoor/outdoor carpeting. I thought it would work for a flatwindow with no tunnel in the floor. Just an idea I wanted to share.

What I ve used before is rubber backed carpet runners like you see in office building lobbies and restaurants. Usually these are supplied by linen companies and they take them out of service when they get a burn mark or tear in them. I got a few from a driver once and cut them up to keep me carpet in my new pickup nice during the winter. Also had one in my 67 van. I used the leftover pieces to line my tool box drawers:-)
It worked out great and they lasted a long time.

As far as original mats, repos are available for early Econos from a few vendors. I know a guy that has a few very nice NOS blue ones also. He found a whole case of them so I bought a few for my private stash. I also put one in my Falcon van I had up at the Bakers meet.
