I'd like to hear from anyone who has performed this type of swap. How you did it, what problems did you encounter, what make and model column did you use?

Re: Tilt Steering Column
You would have to cut off the current shaft and use an adapter for connecting a tilt column.
You would also have to modify the top support for a larger diameter column.
Probably also fab a lower column mount.
I just don't see the value in the work. The wheel would end up angled down in your lap or even more horizontal and up by the windshield.

Re: Tilt Steering Column
I only know 1 person who did this but he does not go on this site, but scottie used a 1987 dodge daytona steering column he hooked every thing up so now he has a smaller steering wheel , tilt, turn signles , cruise, and intermittent wipers and the squirter all working , Rod i guess to answer the question ?? braging rights. he also did ac rear, power windows and locks lowerd the van 3 inches and 4 wheel disc. and a lot of hiden storage in the floor.

Re: Tilt Steering Column
I have 6 way electric seats but the dog house keeps my ass warm. The bigest problem is taking that wiring harness and figuring out what powers what. Scottie's retired and has a lot more time than I. You would also have to cut the coloumn shaft and alter that. I could only suggest buying the column and a wiring diagram cheap and see if it all makes any sense . moving 1 at a time ingnition, wipers uurn signals myself i don't even understand how cruise works and then powering up the pissers or squirters is a nother question, but it would be easier to leave that alone. 1st is to find the coloumn.

Unfortunetly scottie did not document that conversion, If he did i'd be making that conversion over the winter, he loves to tinker with that kind of stuff He made in own power windows and locks 4 wheel disc, lowered it 3 inches fuilt his own rotissorie. and the list goes on.

Re: Tilt Steering Column
I've seen coops but I don't know what he started with. coops work is way above most people's talents. He trurly is one of a kind. But he did incorporate some of scotties ideas. they do live some what close to each other.
