    A100/108 dimensions Empty A100/108 dimensions

Post by kristuphir Sun Jan 27, 2013 3:45 pm

Hi all. I'm in the market for an A108 but something just occurred to me...I work in a fairly confined space with an oddly shaped entrance, and I need to know the body width of an A100 or 108.

My current Astro van can make it through "the narrows" with a few inches to spare on either side, but I'm having a ton of trouble coming up with any dimensions for these vans online!

Anyone have a place they can point me to, or a spare minute to go out and measure theirs? I'd really appreciate it. Hate to prance proudly home with my new love and then have it not fit down the driveway.

Sounds like you need a Kei van (search this forum)!
The mirrors will be the widest part, and there are different ones.
If it's as tight as it sounds, the short WB will be easier to navigate in the tight surroundings.

I can look around but a astro is wider than any early van.

It's a unique space - the driveway itself will accommodate most normal sized vehicles, and once it gets past the narrows (formed by the corner of our old house at a bit of a diagonal to the corner of the neighbor's fence where it doglegs around a tree) there's plenty of room for the front half. So once it's angled in the back half has plenty of room to stick out. Hard to explain I guess.

That's what I like to hear. I also like the idea of easy engine access and a permanent roof over one's head while fiddling with engine stuff...Wink

Ah, I DID wind up finding it here. Knew it had to be somewhere. According to the thread below it's 67.7", which is more than enough free space.

Anyone know if a 4x8 sheet lays down in one of these guys? My guess is no on the A100, and yes but maybe over the wheel wells on the A108.

But then the spec sheet toward the bottom here:

    http://www.corvair.org/chapters/corvanatics/otherFCs.php

claims 76". Still enough to fit, but now I wonder which it is. And the other dims it lists for the A100 would seem to back up my 4x8 question.

Go over and look at and measure this one

The short van will be the same. The 108 will be the same but have 18 extra inches right behind the cab.

I'm sure he'd appreciate that...I guess I'd be "seriously inquiring" about his bed dimensions. Wink

Think I'll take it on wisdom from the board at this point...I have my eye on a particular van, just need to get the timing right.

my remarks were based on your question , I own a a100 from the dog house to the back doors i have 89'' you asked about a a108 like Rod stated is 18'' longer, so a sheet of plywood does fit in a A108 van.

OK, right on. So it's just as I figured. Not that it's the make it or break it stat on the van, but good to know. Thanks much for your help!
