you no that's a good question. lyrad may be able to touch on this as he probably contacted someone in regards to bringing his van up from the States. He may have info on going the other direction. Or you could try a canadian customs hotline, if there is one and ask around. Or better yet save your dime and let me make some phone calls tomorrow and see what I can find out.

Here's a website that ships cars from Canada to the USA. On the right side of this web page are the links to customs forms, etc. Maybe this will help out.

Get in touch with US Customs as was mentioned on Facebook. Make sure to dot all your i's and cross all the t's. Get a reputable shipper and don't cut corners. You are buying this van from a vanner with a good reputation and very reliable. This should go well if you follow everything US Customs requires.

i'll say this but wind up in 10' of crap but i think it's easier to import "to" the US than "into" canada. valid registration, bill of sale with both peoples contact info, i bet thats all you need. now to get from the us into canada; registration, title, bill of sale, all have to be at the border for 3 days prior to vehicles exit from the country. then it's an hours checkin numbers to finalize things. oh yes a broker is needed as well,$$$$$

Canada and the USA have an agreement established back in the 70's. The auto pak or what ever it was called I don't remember.
Anyway it has a ton of rules but if it were made in Canada or the US there are lots less rules and I do believe if its more then 12 years old there is no duty and what you pay is the federal and state taxes where you live if anything.
You do need all the correct paper work and bill of sale and they want 3 days to check and make sure there are no liens, traffic tickets or other outstanding incumberances on the vehicle so you need to advise them ahead of time and produce the paper work and tell them when you will be crossing and where.

Check with your state Motor Vehicles. In NC we pay sales tax on vehicles brought into the state. I recently paid $80 tax on a 1967 van from Virginia.
