    Aftermarket gauges Empty Aftermarket gauges

Post by twinlinemoto Thu Jan 17, 2013 8:35 am

After I found my old aftermarket mechanical cylinder head temp gauge broken, I bought a new triple gauge setup with temp, oil pressure and voltmeter. I understand what I need to do to hook up the gauges, but I found that some previous owner(s) had painted the interior with the harness still attached! I have no idea what color wires are where. Can anyone tell me a good source of switched 12v to turn on my temp and voltmeter? Also, I would like to have the gauge lights come on with the dash lights. Is it possible to use the same circuit from the headlight switch that turns? Or is that 6v?

I just spliced into one of the panel bulb wires. Not sure if thats the correct thing to do but its caused no problems, lights on gauges work and can be dimmed with the stock switch.
