Post by blackace Sat Dec 15, 2012 11:32 am

I was finally able to get the seats and visors into get redone. The guy did a great job in a short timeframe and everything was for $250, which I thought was a great price.

    Redone seats.

    And visors were redone also.

Still have to get the rest of the hardware painted and put back together. Then it is on to the engine covers. Very Happy more pics to come as I tear it out and get ready to put it back together.

I have a pair of visors with the same mount as shown above, but I can't get the mount to slide into the hole without hanging up. Are there multiple styles of visor mounts, or are they all the same?

Westcoast, there are I think about 3 different types of mounts for the visor. I thought I had an emial that showed the three different ones so if I can find it I will post the pics.
And Gary, that was total out the door for everything.

I have the visors in my van, that look like the second photo. I purchased a ( just like new ) pair, that look like the first photo. I gather they are not interchangeable, cause the mount will not go all the way into the hole so that the screws are secure. Which set of visors, are original the vehicle?

from my understanding, they are not interchangable but that is just a guess. The first pick has the spring and all inside the truck shell, while the second pick has it in the body of the visor that is bolted to the shell of the truck. I will get a pick of my area on the truck with a visor off so you can see that.

I don't know what the OP paid for material but vinyl is cheap, sparkle vinyl can be had for about $15 a yard. I'm planning on doing mine in blue/silver Smile

those seats are really nice, i love the stock seats in my 108, these new car seats are not comfortable, my wifes chevy cruze seats are the pits, i can only ride in them for an hour and have to get out and stretch,

Thanks. I like the feel of the original seats also. And with it being originally my Grandma's truck, I like the idea that it was how she bought it.

    Very, very, very impressive.

Does this mean that your grandma bought it new?

So now some more progress on the truck stuff. Here is the prepped battery box for some paint. Will squirt some primer on it with the electrostatic sprayer at work tomorrow, then finish spray it in a satin black or wait and paint it the red color that the truck will be painted in.

The latch will get bead blasted and then sprayed with a clear finish to keep the bare metal look. Have done this on the old door hinges in house and has worked great.

pics of the progress will follow

I tell you I feel kinda embarrassed on this as I see everyone else posting about engine swaps, or lowering the roof line and then I am painting a battery box.

Smile but also know that it all happens one part at a time, so will keep posting what I get done.
