I have the MC ready to go, just wondering about brake lines; i want to replace them all. Looks like i'll invest in/borrow a flare tool.

I bought a coil of tubing and bent it to fit, flared the ends and replaced them all. It's a lot cheeper this way and it's one piece from m/c to rear end. Less chance of a fitting leaking.

Can someone provide (in one post) a complete list of all the parts needed and from which vendors? It really is a pain having to try and sort through all the various posts and figure out what to get. Or has that been done already and I just can't find it? study

Got rid of the left hand studs a while ago. Working on "complete" suspension overhaul at the moment. Just need the sway bar frame mount bushings. When this is all done then I'll start on the brakes. I did just recieve my ebay purchase TRW DS-702 draglink from the FedEx man today. Had to pay $175 shipped for it though, but at least I did'nt have to buy that Rare crap for lots more! Very Happy

On the top or in towards the hub?

You can see the wear pattern on mine here, i don't have any issue with the top or outer edge.

    Hello fellow vansters,

I just signed up on this forum. I recently bought a '69 A108 Sportsman. It needed front brake work, so I went straight for the Scarebird kit. Got all the recommended parts, which went together perfectly. However, the 15" steel wheels on my van (which appear to be original) do not clear the calipers by a long shot. I spent a couple hours grinding both of them and they still rub. I'm not going to remove any more material for fear of caliper failure. I saw someone on this thread was using 14" steel wheels. I'm at a loss for what the problem could be. I wrote to Scarebird. He felt that only 15s would work and recommended a higher clearance steel wheel. I've got my eye on a particular style of hubcap that only exists in 14 and 15 inch sizes, so I really don't want to do 16s, though that would be the easy route at this point. Anyone got any ideas?

the old stock rims were not made for disc brakes you do not need to go to a 16 you just need newer wheels, my guess a 1972 and up pick up or van would work fine...

i have 14s on mine, there chrome rims with 10 lug holes, they were on the van when i got it, i had to grind just a little on the edges of both calipers and they work great, i think the wheels are newer style to fit anything
