Does anyone know if a 250 6 cyl out of a 1978 nova will work in a 1969 Chevy van? I know that it has a lot of stuff on it that I would not need like the power steering pump & AC compressor, etc & that I would have to change the oil pan. I am just wondering what all stuff I would have to change or remove to get it to work.

Re: 250 L6 question???
it will bolt in, but i think '78 still had the intragrated head. the short blocks are the same. i have one in my van and i swapped the head to the old style. shave 60k off of it and gain over 1 point in compression.

Integrated heads are dogs! I had maybe a dozen integrated heads fluxed before and never seen one that wasn't cracked.

Re: 250 L6 question???
I put a 250 from a 75 Nova in my 68 van and I didn't have to change anything.the car had an automatic and It bolted right to the 3 speed in the van.the car motor had a HEI distributer so I did have to add a wire but other than that I didn't have to change oil pan or anything

Re: 250 L6 question???
Love when a plan comes together!!!! The A/C compressor may or may not have space issues depending on which bracket it has but everything else will bolt right up....
