You'll like that HEI for sure, makes it nice to hook a tach up also. I never did understand why they routed the wiring harness on the left side of the DHs when all the stuff they have to hook to is on the right.

Re: Laundry Basket(case)
Finally cooled off enough and had the chance today to remove the tank. What mess inside. It had 3 lbs. of the funk of 41 years built up in it,but had to be done.Whole lot of washin, handfull of rocks and rinsing,it's comin pretty clean.Gonna try the anti-freeze trick as well.Repeat and rinse.Gotta get a tank seal & new float & sock.Fuel s/u works though.Thats a good thing. These are the before pics.

Re: Laundry Basket(case)
Duct tape.Haaaaaaaa (inside joke)
Kinda up in the air.I've heard solder,J-B weld, even thought about spot wire weld.Afraid it might make bigger that started out with.Other than the obvious 3 1/8 " holes, found several lil pin holes away from the edge.I'll come up with something.

Re: Laundry Basket(case)
I brazed a tank years ago, we ran exhaust from another car into the tank till we could see it coming out the holes for quite a while before we started brazing.

Man. That looks like a ruff job saving that one. I should have saved the tank from the GMC. It wasn't that bad.

Re: Laundry Basket(case)
I know some will roll thier eyes at the idea, but I have used that stick type of epoxy ( it works up kind of like silly putty) on some truck tanks and even put some on my van in some places that "looked" in need of some extra thickness. It may not last forever but it held up for better than 5 years on the bottom of a diesel tank, Should buy some time if you want to find a better one anyway. just get it as clean as you can first then seal it up with paint.
