They would be the same transmission but the transmission in a full size would probaly be built more heavy duty for hauling & towing.

    700r4 trans question Empty Tranys-yes

    Post by Twinpilot001 Tue Apr 17, 2012 5:44 am

I also do believe the 700R4 trannys are the same -I will caution as ive read about the later models=updated -that replaced the 700's =like a 4l80E=?? They have no spedo drive as are electric spedos- and the tailshaft kit thats available from some aftermarket sources to make them a mechanical type spedo is aroung 450-500 bucks alone. Its is a heavier Duty trans than the 700 yet the 700 can be updated with heavy duty parts to be same also.

http://www.rowand.net/shop/tech/automaticoverdrivetransmissionswap.htm this article might be helpful. top bolt?? the standard chevy pattern has 6 bolts. i did have a couple work trucks, c60, that had a 7th bolt centered on top. if thats what you meant by top bolt, forget it. most blocks dont evan have the bolt hole or evan enough metal to drill and tap.

Don't worry about the 7th bolt hole. It will work fine.
