motor box seat and headliner Empty motor box seat and headliner

I recently padded and upholstered a motor box seat for Brian J. He mounted a canoe seat from Bass Pro Shop to the motor box lid with angle iron. The seat originally swivelled but that was removed. The backrest folds foward. I upholstered it to match the 69 Mustang seats in his 65 Econoline pickup. The seat came with just a peice of cardboard wrapped in vinyl no padding so I made a new 1/4" plywood base and added 1" of firm foam. I attached the cushion base to the seat using 10-24 machine screws and tee nuts in the plywood. For the backrest I used 1/8" luan and no padding, again 10-24 machine screws and tee nuts in the luan. Both cushion and backrest covers were sewn to match the seats and the covers have 1/2" of foam sewn in where the pleats are. I also did the headliner to match. I screwed a 1X2 pine board to the brace in the roof and another one to the front header above the windsheild. I also ran one down each side of the truck resting on top of the metal egde and screwed to the center brace. This spaced the headliner down and leveled it front to back. I used a 1/8" luan board for the headliner and attached it to the wood with plastic " Christmas Tree " fastners and one screw in the center which will be hidden by the dome light, wires are hanging down. The rear edge of the headliner extends beyond the metal at the top and is just wedged against the roof. The front and sides fit flush against the metal.
