That is pretty darn cool! Never seen one like this. The glass lens would hold up better than plastic in the engine heat. And I assume that's a mercury switch at the top.
I didn't notice at first that the lamp snaps out of its holder so you can shine it where you want. The description mentions a reel. I assume there's a spool of wire inside the lamp!

it is a reel, and if your at a car show 68-69 Pontiac's had them in the bigger cars
