    auxillary radiator Empty auxillary radiator

Post by jrinaman Thu Sep 29, 2011 9:46 pm

the previos owner had added a second radiator on the belly pan and connected it to the heater hoses. never thought much about it until going to nats. many others complained of cooling problems in there early chevies and g-man pointed out others could benefet from this mod. i have a 250 6 cylinder with bigger cam and higher compression and run 170 degrees almost all the time. i have towed a pop up camper and evan with breif runs at 85 mph, it would only go up on big hills. i had a th350 going to nats and it went just over 200 on big hills but dropped back to 170 by the bottom of hill. i since installed a 700r4 and have yet to pass 185 with the camper.auxillary radiator Disc_b10auxillary radiator Disc_b11auxillary radiator Disc_b12auxillary radiator Disc_b14auxillary radiator Disc_b13

    jrinaman,
Very interesting mod indeed! Very thought provoking! I often thought about remote mounting one underneath like some folks have for AC condensers but never got serious about it. Good to see and hear it does work.
