I picked up a zero mile 300 short block from a guy in Tacoma last weekend. It looks really good and it came with a used 300 carb head and a couple oil pans and couple of gasket kits! It's a newer block, from a 1990 truck, but everything seems right. It has the mechanical fuel pump hole. Both dipstick holes are plugged, but easy enough to unplug the one I need.

So far, my plan is to get a torque cam for it, and rebuild the head off my 240. I've read on the fordsix.com forum that the CR will go up to around 9.2 - 9.5:1 and that it'll be ok with pump gas.

Any recommendations on where to get the cam from? I thought of Clifford, and Comp Cams. Clifford seems really expensive! Is it worth it?

I always use Clifford Cams. My 240 from Clifford will have 10:1 CR and will run on regular pump gas although I plan on using hi octane.
