Yes. I did choose to use the shorter arm that they came with. Plenty of swing (60ish degrees instead of 90) to get in and out with less risk of tagging someone parked beside you. I am disappointed that the spring mechanism that holds the doors open have gotten lazy after only 2 years. Probably made in China. I got them from LMC or Brothers. For people searching for these they are mostly referred-to as "door checks". I'd like to find a Made in USA or equivalent to OEM so we don't have to keep buying new or screwing around with re-tensioning the springs. I've got small arms so I can swap them out easy....bigger dudes probably not. If ya drop it......its fishin time in the deepest portion of the door!

All the above are darn good improvments.
I like the idea of less door opening. I always have to be carfull opening the front doors in parking lots. I never realy liked the 90* door opening anywhere , theres just too much risk of the wind taking it or some one hitting it.
Dan do you have a part number for those jeep ones?

did they put these on the side and rear doors of our vans? i have cloth straps that prevent them from opening too far, but nothing to keep them from swinging back in. never took a second to look at the fronts (they work fine) but has to be a way to use this on the other doors. obviusly it would need to be more than 90 degrees.

Re: door stays anyone try this rebuild
I'm gonna try these new ones at some point. All the JY owners in my area
are REAL hard to deal with. I don't even go anymore. Last time I wanted to know how much for a pair of moldy, ripped, rusty spring sticking out Fiero seats?...... $300!..... and if you haggle, they get pissed.

They do have a pair (no pins/brackets/nuts) for $39. My nearest Pick A Parts is a 2-3 hour drive. Daily driver is a Ford 250 Econoline (Triton). Round trip gas $30-$50.

,,,,,,I think we will just have to keep you in mind if we see a Cherokee,,,,(pop the pin up, remove the two 10 mm nuts off it,,,,pull the door panel back and reach in there and pick your part),,,,

Re: door stays anyone try this rebuild
I had the wind grab the driver door from me durning a strong Santa Ana day and it broke the door stop and bent the body. Felt like a fool. I used a side (or rear) door strap to improvise a new door stop. Not as nice as the one discussed above but workable.
For a way to keep the side and rear doors open I have these wood post teathered close by.

Re: door stays anyone try this rebuild
Did you know that you can get some black RIT Dye at Rite-Aid and boiled your door straps in it for about 5 minutes, and they look like new again.
