Well last night I did some more work on the tailgate, I am fitting a new style Dodge Ram tailgate on my 67 Econo pick up. I also fab'd up the roll pan and have that tacked in as well. Lots of hours in the ass end of this thing but it is starting to look pretty cool. Today I am fixing the furnace in the shop, it decided to crap out this morning. At minus 35 I really need that thing to work!!! I will try get some pics later tonight. Have a great day.

Here's what I started with on the old doghouse before Bill (Bills66) said he had a 2nd Gen for me. Once I get the new one in place I will see how well it fits and make the changes but this what I'm going for. The original plan was to mount the CB on the angled front face and cut a couple of cup holders and mount the auto shifter on top. I plan on Diamond plating the whole thing. I have two spare 4'x8' sheets of diamond plate so that kinda what I using. Figure the dark Cobalt Blue & Diamond Plate would look cool.
Thanks guys, anything is doable, just depends on how much work you want to put into it. I have a fair bit of hours into the tailgate alone. I will not be using the stock Dodge handle. I have a handle from the rear door of a econoline van I will be using. Should look cool.
nice work guys. speaking of work, i should get off my ass and do some. the van roof is almost striped, i just hate this cold weather, and a touch of depresion dosent help eather.
I worked for awhile then cleaned gutters on our home and couldn't stand it any longer loaded my new milwaukee sawzall (thank you santa) in the truck and went to the parts van and cut the tunnel out for a fellow vanner. The electric sawzall cuts so much better than the battery one I have. Now i have to just try and control myself because right now all i want to do it cut stuff up! Bill
I ve done the sawzall doghouse removal and it wasnt a lot of fun. For Christmas I got a nice set of spotweld drill bits and a set of step bits too. About $50 per set and well worth it. I ll be doing some panel removals come spring. I thought about a cordless sawzall myself but after the short life of my battery jump pack and a few recent cordlless drills that didnt last real long I decided not to spend the money for the few times I would actually need a cordless sawzall. Im thinking a portable torch set may be money better spent for me.
Picked me up a small generator (800 watt) at Harabor Freight yesterday. Going to give it a try at the local JY as soon as I get a chance. Will run my 4 inch grinder and drill but the sawzall is ?????????. Haven't tried it yet, instructions say to break in the engine first before exceeding 600 watt load.
been busy rebuilding the drip rails, the right side was in pretty ruff shape but was happy to see the driver side pretty intact and needed little work. has some surface rust to the roof so sanded and primed . i hope to be done by early spring , i also hope that idiot uncle sam give me some of my $$ back so i can get it painted and maybe have $ left for tires.
Well I finally put my Econoline on the road. Just have to mount a seat tommorrow morning and take it on its maiden voyage.Hope it stays in one piece. Wish me luck.
Good Luck Mike, It will hold together. Put new mirrors on my 68 G-20 last weekend. Moved my 64 Nodoor to my Dads garage for whats left of winter. Looked good in his Clean ,neat (Kind of heated)garage
After the last 15 months of working twice as hard for less I have been busy at work so as much as I pride myself on doing as much as I can myself I made the call today and tuesday the van goes in the shop for a pinion bearing/pull axels check bearings, and probablly a dual master cylinder conversion .Wife wants to go on a 7-9 day road trip to cali in june and the van will be ready!
