    Leaning van.... Empty Leaning van....

    Post by 65Econo Tue Jun 21, 2011 7:53 am

    Hey guys,
My van leans hard to the drivers side. The previous owner removed a leaf spring from the front to lower it. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Will new shocks level this thing out??? What are my options here. Thanks!

nope= springs only - add the leaf or have all rearched if in good condition

1965 to 2011=46 years. Add many owners and loads, along with who knows how many modifications over the years.
Don't forget that the weight at each corner is often not the same.
After all that, I think it's amazing that more of them aren't leaning a lot!
Springs are what set the ride height, unless there are air shocks. Even gas shocks have so little pressure that they don't really affect height. As said, have the springs rearched, and new bushings installed. If the springs are modified or damaged, try to find a good used set.
I trust old rebuilt/reconditioned stuff over new in some cases, and this is one of them.

Here's what you do... You get your self a big dog...say a St. Bernard, with the booze keg around his neck and sit him in the passenger seat. It worked great for leveling out my 69 ford truck. LOL, or I suppose some new springs would work to.
