Econoline Front Axle Source Empty Econoline Front Axle Source

Post by SDEconoTruck Tue Feb 08, 2011 1:04 am

I've been checking the archives looking for a source of early Econoline front axle beams.

A round tube replacement would be okay. I called a couple axle places and most offer either
a service (dropping an axle) or earlier Ford beams (similar style but different dimensions,) but
so far none offer a replacement for the original.

My problem is the existing beam is bent so my plan is to get a replacement, put my stuff
on it and get it into my Econo (so I can keep using my Pickup.)

Eventually I'd like to repair my bent axle and possibly look into dropping (lowering) this
original beam. But that will only happen after the rebuild is done on the newly rebuilt
250 cu.in./Auto trans (heavier) and I can see what the overall vehicle stance is like...

Any ideas for a source of a beam would greatly be appreciated!

    Best regards,
    George

Well this just goes to show you what a great network of Vintage Vanners there are on this forum!

Just 3 days later and I have an axle for my Econo Pickup!

The Governor himself came by my work to deliver the piece.
All I can say is "What a great guy!" Now my truck will have proper tire wear. Very Happy
I hope to be doing what he does some day.

    Thanks again Donivan65!!! Cool
