Im trying to remove the front door locks for Sean in California. I already removed the cargo door locks with no problem but the front door locks seem tougher. It appears to have different clips than the cargo doors. Its hard to see in there but it looks like there isnt even a big flange on the clips like the cargo doors have. I tried prying a couple different directions but cant seem to move the clips in either ofront door. Which direction should they slide? Do I need to remove any other components inside to make access easier? Sean needs the lock and the rod attached to it. I just dont want to wind up breaking it by doing something wrong.

Re: Front door lock removal help
IT SHOULD BE THE SAME AS THE SIDE/REAR DOORS JUST FEEL AROUND FOR THE FLANGE AND USE A SET OF NEDDLE NOSE PLYERS PULLING OUT FROM THAT FLANGE

Re: Front door lock removal help
Theres the other trick of sticking your camera in there and maybe getting a pic of it to look at.

Re: Front door lock removal help
I went thru the same thing last year-darn clips are sort of hidden & I used a long screwdriver & small hammer to get them off=putting the SD on the clip & lightly hitting the SD= mine were in tight=pliers wouldnt get them off & room is limited in there. Someone here sent me pics of them from a camera - was a great help..

Re: Front door lock removal help
So do they come off pushing towards the rear edge of the door then?

Re: Front door lock removal help
While I appreciate your efforts, that is a Chevy van front door which is totaly different from a Dodge A100 setup. I actually just came inside after finally getting the locks out. The front door clips are indeed different than the side door ones. The side door clips are like the ones in your picture and also Fords but the A100 front door clips however can not be removed until the lock or attaching rod is removed first. The clip is rectangular and not open on the end so it cant just be knocked off. It slides in a small channel attached to the inner door skin and can be installed by itself, without any lock and it wont fall off. What ya do is slide the clip about an 1/8 of an inch and the lock will release. If you go further it catches another detent and wont release. If ya go even further it will release again but then theres another point of going too far where it wont. Its tricky. Im glad the Fords arent like that.
