    I know the D series pickups from 61-71 share some parts with the A's. Are the axles wider on a D series? Spring mounts the same width?

    not the same ! part number for an a series should be 2237602 and if i remember correctly that number is cast into the axle beam.

    Were the 2 different GVWR/brake sizes the same axle, was it just the spindle that changed?

    book only lists one part number for the axle beam itself.
